Atlantis World Product Update I
Insights into game art and development progress – September Issue
Hello dear reader, welcome to the inaugural monthly update for Atlantis World!
We intend to share as much detail as we can about the product, to our community and beyond.
Before we dig in, let’s quickly recap: what is Atlantis World?
Atlantis is a virtual game world that will allow Web3 users to socialise, collaborate, play and learn in one lightweight metaverse that will be accessible to everyone – no matter whether you’re new to crypto or just use a mobile phone.
Atlantis World will be a place where communities can freely connect amongst each other, have fun interacting with and exploring the game world.
What are we building?
Users in Atlantis World will be able to:
Create their first ever cryptocurrency wallet;
Connect to new blockchain RPCs – a necessary step in order to transact on any given blockchain for the first time. Learn more about how to add RPCs to your Metamask wallet here;
Safely deposit funds into DeFi markets;
Trade crypto assets on DEXs;
Trade NFTs using popular marketplaces;
Vote in DAOs proposals.
To fulfil our mission of onboarding the next generation of crypto power users, at Atlantis World we are focused on building quests and designing incentives. We believe in rewarding users for interacting with, as well as learning about Web3 applications and their use cases in-game.
Art & Design
Our stellar design team began the month by finishing off the Avalanche HQ interior design, which was the final game art required for Avalanche City. A beautifully icy and snowy realm.
Then, they finished the interior and exterior building art of 4 other clubhouses for our ecosystem partners – CyberKongz, Snapshot, Aragon and Impossible Finance.
The rest of the time was dedicated to working on the Atlanteans collection. Learn more about it here.
A few words from our design lead, Eylül:
“I would like to mention that now we have a new team member in Design, Ana, which is very exciting!
For October we are planning to make a lot of improvements to the current game world tile sets and to the smaller details of the game.
I will be focusing on the Atlanteans characters NFT collection too, we might even share a sneak peek in the upcoming month!”
Game & Blockchain Development
September was a highly productive month on the game development side of things, there is a lot coming in Q4 2022 so the team has been preparing. They shipped a new staging build which is a nearly exact replica of a production environment used for software testing, as well as a new (closed) alpha build, an early rough game release that is meant to find major bugs.
New features include:
Whitelisting – the token gating system has been upgraded for our upcoming curated Alpha game launch, where progressively more ecosystem partner communities will be able to join Founding Atlantean Scroll holders in-game for the first time (look out for an announcement soon of who will be the 1st partner community to enter!)
Plenty of updates to the backend Admin Panel to easily manage in-game objects such as signs, worlds, dialogue, NPCs, quests, events and more
Broadcasting events available in-game to be tested
Whitelisted individuals can start a broadcast event – once it starts, other users in the clubhouse can join in as listeners to watch and listen in on the livestream
Listeners can raise their hands, and if approved by a speaker, are promoted to guests, giving them temporary speaking permissions until a speaker or the guest speaker themselves wishes to demote them to listener only
If there is no on-going broadcast, the general chat area will work just like the benches in the world do and open a normal video chat
New UI rework for the main navigation panel, the world map, chat area, action buttons, wallet connect, video chat, alert modal and the modal wrapper
New keypress overlay for when users enter an action area: “press E to [..]”
Automated updates to the game server
On the other hand, our blockchain development team focused their efforts on:
the Upcoming Atlantean characters NFT collection
Continuous documentation efforts for all intended approaches as well as existing technical implementations in order to ensure better synchronisation with the rest of the team as well as gaining a better understanding overall
Improving existing dApp integrations and developing new ones from our ecosystem partner network
Planning and implementing long-term architecture for analytics, loot and in-game rewards distribution
Code reviews for quality check and to spot potential vulnerabilities
Thank you for reading and being a part of the Atlantis journey!
We look forwards to keeping you in the loop!
